Anisotropic magnetic tape differs from ordinary tape in that a strong magnetic field is applied during the forming process, oriented perpendicular to the plane of the tape. As a result, the ferrite particles and their magnetic moments are arranged preferentially in this direction (the direction of magnetic anisotropy).
The magnetic characteristics of anisotropic tape (residual induction Br and maximum magnetic energy B.Hmax) are 2 to 3 times higher than those of ordinary tape obtained without the application of a magnetic field.
